Picking My Battles

Act I:
I woke up very early this morning to be all domesticated and cook the breakfast casserole I had prepared for Cameron's 5th grade breakfast today. In the hustle of getting everything ready and the kids dressed, my dear husband only gave Landon a goodbye kiss before leaving for work. Now Landon would have none of that and insisted on his hug AFTER Mike had already left. I grabbed my cell phone and went running for the front door to stop Mike from leaving. I flagged him down and yelled for Landon to run to the door to give his Daddy that hug. Landon comes running and makes it out the door stark naked with nothing to hide his precious jewels. I send him in to at least put on underwear. He then runs to the road and jumps in his Daddy's truck to give him that very much anticipated hug. Whew! We just diverted a national crisis!

Act II:
My happy child goes back inside and gets dressed. He pulls out his winter hat and insists upon wearing it to school. No biggie, right? Next thing I know he's asking for his green jacket. Whatever. We head out the door and he is wearing gloves. That kid's gotta be hot, right? I insist upon their removal and finally decided to just pick my battle because we were already running late.

And this, my friends, is what my child looked like today at school:

Oh - and the temperature outside? Only 80 degrees.
